MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX - At the County Executive Committee meeting on June 6, a resolution passed unanimously to publish the names of all elected officials as reported on the July 2023 Texas Ethics Commission Reports who are knowingly contributing to Chairman Bryan Christ and his wife’s deceptive “Montgomery County Republican Club PAC” fundraiser to be held on July 17.

The resolution states that when the Texas Ethics Commission campaign finance reports for the Chairman and his wife’s Montgomery County Republican Club PAC or any of their other various PACs become available, their donor list will be sent to the party’s entire database of voters as well as published on the party’s official website (mctxgop.org), all social media outlets, and any printed media created for the Primary Election.

Providing this information to voters will help them make informed decisions about candidates contributing to the divide in the local party and creating confusion at the polls. When voters show up at the polls during the Primary Election and are handed a voter guide by someone who says, “Here is the Republican Voter Guide,” voters should be able to trust that the guide is truly from the Republican Party and not a guide provided by one of these imposter PACs. Once voters are aware of this dishonest practice, it is up to each individual to decide whether to vote for candidates who knowingly fund this confusion by contributing to a PAC impersonating the Montgomery County Republican Party.

Remember, the Montgomery County Republican Party DOES NOT endorse in Primary Elections; therefore, if you receive a “Republican Voter Guide” that endorses one Republican over another, you can be sure it is not an official guide from the Republican Party even if it uses the word “Republican” in its name.

In addition, the resolution denounces the misrepresentations made by the Chairman in stating that the money he is raising for his PAC’s “Continue the Legacy” fundraiser is for the local party headquarters. It is not. The Chairman’s fundraiser is being used to fund his PAC’s new “Republican Welcome Center” headquarters, which is not affiliated with the Montgomery County Republican Party. As part of this fundraiser, Chairman Christ is sending out misleading advertising materials under a Montgomery County Republican Party email header. This is very confusing to voters and potential donors.

As a result, a separate resolution on June 6 to “declare the fundraising efforts for the ‘Republican Party Headquarters’ by Bryan Christ to be dishonest, unethical, and fraudulent” passed by unanimous vote.

The “Republican Welcome Center,” also called the “Republican Clubhouse,” and the associated July 17 fundraiser are not affiliated with the Montgomery County Republican Party in any way.

If the bad actors had no money to carry out these nefarious schemes, there would be no divide in our local party. As such, donors to the Chairman and his wife’s various PACs, which hijack the Republican Party name, have lost the right to speak about the party dispute because those very same donors are undeniably financing and contributing to the conflict and confusing voters in the process.

Update (June 15): Chairman Bryan Christ’s “Montgomery County Republican Club PAC” has changed the language on its July 17 “Continue the Legacy” fundraiser advertising materials by removing all references to the Republican Party Headquarters. Anyone who donated to this fundraiser thinking they were funding the Montgomery County Republican Party Headquarters should ask the Montgomery County Republican Club for a refund.
