Four Steps to Electing Strong Conservatives in the 2026 Primary

January 6, 2026 | Montgomery County, TX

The March 3rd Primary Election is when political parties choose who will represent them on the General Election ballot in November.

❌ We can no longer elect candidates based on personality, the most appealing commercials, or popularity with local political groups. Our state and nation are at a crossroads and we need effective representation now.

❌ We can no longer base our choices on voter guides handed to us in parking lots without first understanding the goals of the organizations who printed the guides.

We must do our research and then support candidates who will support our values.

➡️ Step 1: Research the Candidates

If we’re going to make lasting change, we must ensure that our elected officials are true, Texas-First leaders instead of “Uniparty” politicians.

🔴 Your current Texas Legislators:

Now is the time to evaluate your current elected officials’ job performance and decide if you want to re-hire them for another term or select another candidate.

The following eight Legislative Priorities were chosen by grassroots delegates to the Texas GOP Republican convention, May 23-25, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas.

Did your elected representatives take action to pass bills focused on these priorities?

🚨 ACTION STEP:

✅ Visit Your State Legislators to look up how your Texas legislators voted on key bills and priorities, and review report cards from conservative organizations.

🔴 All candidates, including challengers and local candidates:

  • Visit candidates’ websites to read a list of issues they support. Do those issues line up with your most important concerns and values? Look for campaign events you can attend to hear more directly from the candidate.

  • Visit state and local news media and search for articles about the candidate.

  • If the candidate is challenging an incumbent, look for examples of how they have championed grassroots issues and Republican principles.

  • Visit their personal social media pages to see which issues they are posting about most. Does this align with the values listed on their campaign website?

  • Candidates are often beholden to their donors. Visit transparencyusa.org to look up the candidate. This will show you their major donors so you can determine if their values align with yours. Are they receiving more donations from large establishment Political Action Committees (PACs) or out-of-district politicians than local constituents? In-district funding tends to align more closely with local voters. Look for candidates who receive a large portion of their donations from individual Texas voters and PACs that align with your values.

  • Get behind those candidates who are truly going to put Texans first. Volunteer for their campaigns or donate.

🚨 ACTION STEP:

Click here to access your personal sample ballot, showing the exact races in which you will be voting and the names of the candidates you need to research.

If the sample ballot link is not yet visible, check back closer to the election date.

🔴 Grassroots events:

There are several local conservative organizations that research candidates and can help you make informed decisions in local elections.

Attending meetings of these groups can make you a more informed voter.

Some of these groups vet candidates and publish trustworthy voter guides.

Others offer candidate forums so you can hear directly from candidates prior to the election.

Sample questions to ask at candidate forums:

  • What are your concrete plans to address [insert issue]?

  • What do you see as the top three priorities for your elected position?

  • Who are your top donors and what percentage of your campaign funding comes from individual contributions under $500 vs large donors or PACs?

  • How much of your campaign funding comes from within your district?

  • Can you give an example from your career (or a hypothetical) where you chose a position that went against the wishes of a major donor or special interest group in favor of what your constituents wanted?

  • How do you plan to stay accountable to everyday constituents rather than wealthy donors or party leaders once in office?

🔴 Local boards & government meetings:

Staying apprised of what’s happening at the local government level is often overlooked by voters, but is key to taking back our country.

Non-partisan boards such as school boards and city councils determine about 90 percent of your taxes. If you are not paying close attention to what they are doing, you will pay the price.

➡️ 2. Understand Voter Guides & PACs

Although the voter guide may say “Republican” or “Voter PAC,” this does not mean the group is affiliated with the Republican Party or is even a conservative organization!

Every election cycle we have groups such as the “Texas Conservative Tea Party Coalition,” aka the fake Tea Party, the condemned “Republican Voters of Texas PAC,” and the “Montgomery County Republican Club PAC.”

These Political Action Committees (PACs) and other groups attempt to blur the lines between their organizations and the actual Republican Party in an effort to deceive voters into voting for their preferred candidates.

Some of these organizations are “pay-to-play,” meaning the candidates are paying to be listed on their voter guides as part of their campaigns.

The Republican Party DOES NOT print a voter guide for the Primary Election since all of the candidates are running as Republicans in the Republican Primary. If you receive a voter guide during the Primary from a group claiming to represent the Republican Party, you can be sure it’s not from the real Republican Party.

What to look for in a voter guide:

  • A strenuous vetting process to evaluate which candidates will make choices that support We the People.

  • A conservative mission statement and efforts throughout the year to educate voters on limited government, fiscal responsibility, and constitutional principles.

  • Regular meetings or a board that is open to public scrutiny, not organizations that only exist to distribute a voter guide during Primary season. A good test is to look for groups that also distribute voter guides for the November General Election.

What to avoid in a voter guide:

  • Groups that use the word “Republican” in their name to try and deceive voters. The Republican Party DOES NOT print a voter guide for the Primary Election.

  • Organizations that only appear during Primary season to get their preferred candidates or clients elected, but don’t work the November General Election to elect Republicans over Democrats.

  • Some deceptive voter guides will endorse a strong Conservative candidate to lend credibility to left-leaning candidates who are also on the voter guide. Just because you see a true Conservative listed on the guide doesn’t mean the rest of the candidates listed are Conservatives!

🚨 ACTION STEPS:

✅ If you use a voter guide, make sure it’s from a trusted conservative organization such as those listed here.

✅ Visit transparencyusa.org to look up the names of the PACs funding the voter guides you receive. This will show you their major donors so you can determine if your values align with those funding the voter guides you receive.

➡️ 3. Help “Get Out the Vote” and Encourage Great Candidates to Run for Office

All concerned citizens are needed to keep Texas free and save America. From block walking to serving as an election worker or helping on a committee, we’re always in need of patriots willing to stand up for conservative values by getting out the vote or running for office.

Supporting events like our 2026 Trump-Reagan Gala allows the Montgomery County Republican Party to send mailers, text messages, and other forms of advertising to educate voters and encourage them to vote their conservative values. Your participation or sponsorship makes a huge difference in how many people we can reach during the Primary Election.

Please join us in working to get true Conservative Republicans elected.

🚨 ACTION STEPS:

✅ Consider attending or sponsoring our Trump-Reagan Gala, featuring Attorney General Ken Paxton. Find out more here.

✅ Visit our Get Involved page to volunteer as a block walker, election worker, and more!

Contact us if you have questions about how to help or run for office.

➡️ 4. Hold Elected Officials Accountable

Once we elect strong Conservatives, it’s important to hold them accountable to the promises they made during their campaigns. Stay involved and follow the decisions they make in office.

We the People have been asleep on the job for too long. It’s time to get involved and take back America.

Our elected officials are under constant and relentless attack. As Christians, we must cover them in prayer to help ensure that they are wearing the full armor of God. We are committed to interceding daily on their behalf and invite you to pray with us for our elected officials.

🚨 ACTION STEPS:

✅ Join elected officials’ email lists, attend local meetings, and follow bills (see the techniques listed in #1 above). Contact them or visit their offices to let them know your thoughts on issues.

✅ Pray for your elected officials to follow Biblical principles.
