Montgomery County and Texas love President Donald Trump. Of 3,143 counties in America, only one county gave President Trump a margin of victory of 100,000+ votes in 2016, 2020, and 2024. The county that did this incredible feat is Montgomery County, Texas.

Montgomery County is a conservative stronghold. We have some of the strongest precinct chairs, Republican Women’s Clubs, and voters in the nation. Texas Conservatism (TC) and Trump Populism (TP) correlate highly in values, principles, and goals. This explains why President Trump “was fine with same sex marriage” in 2016, while the Texas Republican Party Platform and many in the GOP were not. But at the end of the day, Donald Trump may well be the greatest Republican president of our lifetime.

As conservative Republicans, we must remain focused on our Texas Republican Legislative Priorities and Core Principles. We must guard against being set adrift from Republican priorities by the siren song of national populism.

A brief description of these ideologies may help:

  • Populism: Advocates for the empowerment of ordinary people against elites, often calling for rapid, transformative changes.

  • Conservatism: Emphasizes preserving traditional values and institutions, advocating for gradual and stable reforms.

This explains the occasional odd positions Republicans have in supporting Donald Trump’s positions 100% of the time. On occasion, National Populism conflicts with Texas Conservatism.

Over the years, Montgomery County Republicans have taken a pragmatic approach to advancing our Texas Republican principles and priorities. Our dedication to principles over personalities has made Montgomery County the crown jewel of the state and of the nation.

Election season is approaching quickly. Educate yourself on the candidates’ voting records, beliefs, and actions. Attend the candidate forums, focus on principles, and always feel free to contact the Montgomery County Republican Party with any questions.
