The Montgomery County Republican Party is proud to announce that our Secretary, DJ Fike, has been selected as the State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) Volunteer of the Year for Senate District 4.
The award will be presented in Austin on December 4th at the Texas GOP Volunteer of the Year Awards Banquet, a time-honored Republican Party of Texas tradition to recognize hard-working volunteers across the state.
“I do not know what I would do without Mrs. Fike,” said County Chairman Gwen Withrow. “She is invaluable to the organization and really assists me with my many duties as County Chairman.”
DJ moved to Conroe after her husband’s death, where she reconnected with an old friend who was serving as a Precinct Chair with the Montgomery County Republican Party. That friend introduced her to the party and spurred her interest in getting involved in the political scene.
She ran for Precinct Chair in 2019 and won her first of two terms. While a Precinct Chair, she also served as Fundraising Chairman and oversaw the first Gala dinner held in the county in several years, among other successful fundraising events.
DJ continues to serve on the Fundraising Team, has served as an active member of the Training and Development Team, and was a founding member of the party’s Communication Committee.
She also developed and conducted a training course for election day judges and clerks to augment the training provided by the County Elections office as well as a Precinct Chair Orientation class. She has been instrumental in establishing several ad-hoc committees, including a Convention Planning Committee. DJ is the County Chairman’s designee in helping with candidate filings and the Primary Election.
“DJ is a tireless worker and an incredible asset to the Montgomery County Republican Party,” said Dale Inman, SREC Committeeman for Senate Dist. 4. “She gives of her talents and many hours of her time to serve the Party and our community.”
DJ attended Sam Houston State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching degree and a minor in Physics. She went on to earn her Master’s of Science degree in Instructional Technology with a specialization in Human Resource Management from the University of Houston Clear Lake. She was also recognized as a Science Teacher Mentor after completing many hours of professional development through a co-op program through the University of Houston Clear Lake.
She is very honored to be nominated for Volunteer of the Year.
