To all of the citizens of Montgomery County:
I wish you all a very special and happy Thanksgiving. I know we will enjoy turkey and traditions, but please remember to thank the Creator for our bounty. This is such a special week in which we stop and give thanks for the many blessings we in this country have enjoyed. I truly believe because of our Christian heritage that we in the United States have enjoyed God’s favor as a nation. So, during this special time, I want to give thanks for the blessings of my life.
First and foremost, I am thankful that I enjoy the covering of my sins by the blood of Jesus. What a gift God has given all of mankind. We claim that gift freely, as we can stand before our Lord and he does not see the sin in each of our lives.
I am especially thankful that we are seeing a renewing of spirituality through out the world, especially among the younger generation. I ask that we be forgiven for allowing our world and this nation to forget the obligations we have to live virtuous lives, always caring for those who are in need of our strength. Many have prayed for the great awakening and I thank the Lord that he has answered our prayers.
I am thankful for those who came before me and helped to build this nation and set the tone of being God-fearing, hard-working people of faith. A nation of freedom can only survive if the people are morally righteous in their lives. Our nation has had such a past heritage and I pray we continue to renew that spirit.
I found the neatest letter the other day as I organized some papers—a letter from my grandmother to me when I went away to college. My grandmother let me know that she was praying for me and that she cherished me. It was like looking into the soul of one who was long since gone. It makes me remember I need to pray for my children and grandchild.
I will be spending time refreshing myself with my family this week and I am so thankful for each and everyone of them. I pray that each of you enjoy that time also with family and friends.
We will be returning to the work of electing leaders for our country soon enough. So, I ask that you pray with me that citizens will have discernment to pick candidates who will best uphold our biblical values and lead our nation morally and wisely. I am thankful for the many who have stepped forward to run for office with a spirit of servant leadership. I am thankful for the many friends I have who are praying for me. I know I need their prayers to give me strength and guidance.
Blessings to each of you as we enjoy this season of Thanksgiving.
God Bless Texas and the USA,
