Update From County Chair Gwen Withrow

by Republican County Chair, Gwen Withrow, mctxgop.org

Today is the beginning of Rosh Hashanah. I thought of this as I sat glued to my TV set yesterday watching the Charlie Kirk memorial. It was so inspiring and moved me to tears. It is my most sincere prayer that our country and even the entire world experience the greatest revival since Pentecost.

Rosh Hashanah, meaning “head of the year” in Hebrew, is the Jewish New Year celebrated on the first two days of Tishrei. It marks the birthday of the universe and the creation of Adam and Eve, serving as a time of reflection and introspection as the Jewish year begins. The holiday is also known biblically as Yom Teruah, which translated to “day of cheering or blasting.” Rosh Hashanah is observed with various traditions, including the sounding of the shofar (a ram’s horn) and festive meals.

I am praying for a GREAT AWAKENING. Blessed be the Lord for giving us the opportunity to save our nation and therefore pass to our children and grandchildren the freedom our forefathers gave to us.

It is up to each of us to step forward and provide the elected officials our country needs at this time. Voting is a privilege and a right we should all hold dear. We must vote responsibly.

Prepare for the November Election

Please make sure you take the time to view your sample ballot before you vote in November. The measures we will be voting on are complicated and require thought and reflection. You do not want to be reading them for the first time in the voting booth. Visit our Upcoming Elections page for more information.

Precinct Chair Filing Is Now Open

I have been very busy the last few weeks as the filing period for Precinct Chairs who will appear on the March Primary ballot has started. DJ Fike, Montgomery County Republican Party Secretary, and I have been working diligently with our current 113 Precinct Chairs to file their applications.

Precinct Chair Filing

Precinct Chair filing has begun! Congratulations to Graham Church (Precinct 108) for being our first to file and Charles Shirley (Precinct 88) for being our second!

Beginning January 1, 2026, the county will be adding an additional eight precents to bring the total to 121.

Notice of Changes to County Election Precinct Boundaries Effective Jan. 1, 2026

DJ and I will be in Austin this Friday and Saturday learning all that we can to fulfill our duties to lead the Republican Party in Montgomery County and to provide the voters the best of service.

County Elections Administration

We attended a meeting with our county election administrator to make sure the election workers are in place for your November elections. I want to thank Precinct 60 Chair Judi Thomas and Precinct 91 Chair Annette Kerr for the work they do making sure elections workers are present to accommodate voters across the county.

I also spent a day with the county election workers testing the voting system before the November elections. It is important that the Party Chairman reviews these tests to ensure the integrity of our voting system.

Winning Campaigns Training

A day of training for candidates running for election was provided by the Leadership Institute on September 12 in Conroe. Several candidates who are planning on running for office were present. We need to thank all of the candidates who run for office because they provide you, the voter, a choice when you cast your vote. It is important to provide this training to candidates as it is a difficult, all-consuming task to run for office.

Montgomery County Republican Women’s Fundraiser

I was able to end my week on a fun note as I attended a fundraising dinner with the Montgomery County Republican Women on September 18. It was a delicious meal and fun time for all who attended. Money raised by the Republican Women will be provided to candidates next year for the November 2026 General Election.

As you can see, the work of the Republican Party Chairman is time consuming and never-ending. It is important work for our country and I am proud to serve the voters of Montgomery County.

God Bless Texas and the USA,
