Analysis of Republican House Representatives

The 89th Texas Legislative Session is winding down and to say that this session has been disappointing is an understatement. Let’s dive into what happened in the Texas House besides the obvious election of Rep. Dustin Burrows as the Speaker of the House.
Brett Rogers with Grassroots Priorities has been looking at the number of times Republican House Members have disagreements with the Democrats and his analysis ranges from 0% to 100%.
Guess what? Democrat House members always disagree with Republicans. Democrats are in lockstep with one another. They realize that they will be primaried immediately if they step out of line. For example, when Rep. Shawn Thierry (HD 146) supported “Banning Gender Modification” in the 88th Legislative Session, she lost in the following Democratic Primary Election. She later announced that she was leaving the Democratic Party.
And, led by Lt. Gov. Patrick, Republicans in the Texas Senate support Republicans 100% of the time.
But when you review the votes of Republican House Members in the 89th Texas Legislative Session, it looks as though Republicans only have about 38 out of 88 Republican Representative votes that can be counted on to support Republican values. There are 30 Republican Representative votes that are iffy and 20 Republican Representative votes that Republicans cannot count on at all. This explains why the Republican Party is currently fighting so hard to pass our Legislative Priorities even though we have a Republican majority in the House.
Republican Representatives are going to return home after the Legislative Session, claiming it was the most “Conservative” and “successful” session ever—and expecting to be re-elected. Please check their voting records for this session and make that decision for yourself. How well did they support the Legislative Priorities of the Republican Grassroots? (NOTE: The Montgomery County Republican Party will be posting an analysis of how well our Reps supported the Texas GOP Legislative Priorities here and on our social media accounts after the close of the session.)
Just imagine the difference in the 89th Session outcomes if ALL of the Republican Representatives had supported Republican values and the Legislative Priorities.
Censure is available for those Representatives who meet the criteria.
Hopefully, closing the Republican Primary in 2026 will also have an impact.
The way I see it, I don't care how nice a Representative is, how friendly, how many times they return phone calls, or how much money they donate to your local Clubs; if they are voting with the Democrats, they are betraying the Grassroots, betraying the Legislative Priorities, and betraying the Republican Party of Texas.
