Update From County Chair Gwen Withrow

On October 2, 1835, ordinary Texians at Gonzales stood their ground against tyranny with a bold message: “Come and Take It.”

That spark lit the fire of the Texas Revolution. It was the very first stand in a long fight for liberty, one that would ultimately lead to San Jacinto and Texas’ independence.

Today, nearly 200 years later, Texans face new battles. The enemies may not march under Santa Anna’s flag, but they come in the form of government overreach, open borders, Chinese land buys, and attempts to silence conservative voices.

A victory this past week worth mentioning is that the largest abortion clinic in the Western hemisphere, located in Houston, was shut down. It is so important to keep fighting for conservative values and asking the Lord for strength in the battle.

Chairman Gwen Withrow attended the Texas Secretary of State’s Biennial Election Law Seminar for County Chairs to prepare for election season. She is doing her part to keep our elections fair and safe! With Waller County GOP Chair, Cyndi Lawrence.

Primary Election Season

As we enter the absolute crazy time of Primary Season in preparation for the Primary Election on March 3, 2026, things will get more stressful. While there are many important battles to fight, it’s also important to have fun together. We are a “party” after all. So, I am going to start a new series called, MARCH PRIMARY - THE MULTIRING CIRCUS.

My general subtitles will be:

County Chairman Race: The Circus Headmaster Cage Match

Precinct Chair Races: Wild Horses Perform

Candidates for the November General Election: The Elephants on Parade or The Hunger Games

The State Republican Executive Committee (SREC): I am not sure if they are going to be the monkeys or the clowns, not to be derogatory, but just because of all of the many directions folks are going.

Republican Christmas Party

To continue the fun, we are planning a big shindig to celebrate Christmas and inviting everyone. The Christmas party will be held on December 13th, place to be announced. First of all, we will all be depositing our weapons at the door. No politics - just fellowship and fun. Please remember we are celebrating the birth of our Savior, the Prince of Peace.

I will be providing the entertainment as I perform the circus act of “The Multiring Circus of the County Chairman.”  For my performance I will be needing assistance from Precinct Chairs Robert Walker and Gary Reynolds - please bring plates for balancing (plastic, no telling what might happen with glass). I am asking our Texas Federation of Republican Women (TFRW) Liaison, Ann Kate, to furnish a red hula hoop. She may decorate, but please be kind as it is a Christmas party.  Hats - I will need lots of hats from candidates! Tim Yockey and Phil Cady will be placing the Trump hat on top and may need a ladder or step stool. Others will be participating but I do not want to give too much away. I am giving permission for Scott Baker and Herschel Williams to video. This is a performance you do not want to miss!

Remember, we are there to have fun. As I am expecting a big crowd, please bring a covered dish. Watch our calendar and subscribe to our emails for details to be announced.

God Bless Texas and the USA,

Gwen Withrow, Chairman
