Montgomery County, Texas — Tuesday night, the Montgomery County Republican Party took a decisive and principled step to protect election integrity, promote voter education, and uphold transparency by passing a resolution addressing deceptive practices that mislead Republican voters during primary elections. The resolution was passed by more than 70% of those present, with a vote of 56 (yea) to 18 (nay) with 4 abstentions.
The resolution reaffirms the Party’s longstanding commitment to educating voters on the election process and protecting the integrity of the Republican brand, particularly in Republican primary elections where Republicans are running against Republicans. Under Party bylaws, the Montgomery County Republican Party does not endorse candidates in contested Republican primaries. This policy exists to ensure fairness, neutrality, and trust in the process.
However, the Party has identified a growing problem: outside organizations with misleading names such as the Republican Voters of Texas PAC that distribute so-called “voter guides” and present them to unsuspecting voters in a manner that implies official Republican Party endorsement. These organizations are not affiliated with the Republican Party, yet use the word “Republican” in their names to exploit voters’ lack of familiarity with election rules and party procedures.
“This is not about suppressing speech or disagreement,” Party leadership emphasized. “This is about honesty, transparency, and protecting voters from being intentionally misled. Voters deserve to know the difference between official party information and the materials of private, agenda-driven groups.”
Election integrity depends not only on secure ballots and accurate counts, but also on truthful information. When organizations misrepresent themselves as speaking for the Republican Party, they undermine voter confidence and damage trust in the electoral process. The resolution makes clear that such deception is unacceptable and that protecting voters from confusion is a responsibility the Party takes seriously.
By passing this resolution, the Montgomery County Republican Party demonstrated bold leadership and a firm commitment to ethical political engagement. The Party will continue working to ensure Republican voters are informed, empowered, and confident that when they see the Republican Party name, it represents official, transparent, and trustworthy information.
Later in the meeting, the CEC was unified in a motion to approve the budget for voter education regarding this matter, as the motion was passed unanimously.
The Montgomery County Republican Party remains dedicated to upholding conservative principles, defending election integrity, and ensuring that voters, not deceptive organizations, decide the future of Republican leadership.
