May 6 Election

The upcoming May 6 election will determine your representation on local boards and councils that decide how much tax to collect and how that money will be spent. Those elected will make decisions that determine what your children are taught or exposed to in the school setting. Some voters will have the opportunity to vote on school and MUD bonds. This is why your vote is so important.

View Your Personal Sample Ballot

Montgomery County Elections will post sample ballots as the election approaches. You may view your personal sample ballot to determine if there will be races in your area.

It is possible that Montgomery County Elections is not conducting an election in your area. If this is the case, you will see a message stating “Montgomery County Elections is not conducting an election in your area. If you feel this is incorrect please call our office at (936) 539-7843.”

If there are races on your personal sample ballot, visit candidate campaign websites and attend meet-and-greets and candidate forums to learn about their core values, character, life accomplishments, endorsements, donors, and campaign promises. If there are any bond or tax proposals on your ballot, attend information meetings and check reliable sources to understand both the context and impact – objectives, priorities, projects, debt levy, etc., of each item.

Is Your MUD Holding an Election?

There are five Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs) holding elections on May 6 - Magnolia Woods MUDs 1 and 2, Montgomery County MUD 212, HMW Special Utility District, and New Caney MUD. These elections are not conducted by Montgomery County Elections; therefore, they are not included on the May 6 ballot. Instead, these elections are conducted by the MUD district directly. You can find voting locations and times for your MUD here. These are taxing entities with notoriously low turn-out elections, so your individual vote can have a big impact on the election results!
