Is Your Republican Lawmaker Helping Democrats Gain Power?

As Texas conservatives, we’ve seen time and again how our Republican-majority Texas House fails to deliver on our conservative priorities. Why? Because a small group of Republicans have worked with Democrats to elect speakers who appoint Democrats to chair committees, giving them the power to kill conservative legislation. It is so disingenuous to put Democrats in charge after Texans have overwhelmingly elected Republicans across the state.
We can’t let that happen again.
This broken system must be reformed. Texans voted for a Republican House majority, even flipping two Democrat-held districts to Republican last month. Texas deserves a Speaker who will unite Republicans, prioritize conservative principles, and put an end to the backroom deals with Democrats that undermine our values.
Earlier this year, a large number of Republican lawmakers identified key areas for reforming the Texas House. A majority of Texas House Republicans announced they would not support a Speaker who appoints Democrat chairs.
So far, there are two Republican candidates for Speaker:
Dade Phelan, who has promised to appoint Democrat chairs again if elected.
David Cook, who has pledged not to appoint Democrat chairs.
Capitol rumors suggest another candidate may enter the race, but the reality is there are only two sides in this fight: those who support the swamp and those who want to reform the Texas House.
Which side is your lawmaker on? Have they heard from you?
Call your lawmaker today at (512) 463-4630.
Ask them who they are supporting for Speaker and whether they are committed to reforming the Texas House.
Our voters don’t want Democrats dictating the agenda in Austin. Together, we can send a clear message: Texas is a conservative state, and we expect a Speaker who will prioritize our conservative legislative priorities and values.
Thank you for standing up for conservative principles in our great state.
For Texas, For America,
Abraham George
