The Struggle Is Real...but We Should Be Thankful!

How the struggle in our local Party is exposing bad actors in Montgomery County.

Since the Patriots taking a stand in Montgomery County have refused to back down, some bad actors are becoming increasingly desperate, trying everything they can to silence the truth. These people are accustomed to working in the shadows, but the struggle in our local Party is drawing them out, letting voters see them for who they truly are.

While some bemoan the struggle, it can also be seen as a good thing. It HAD to happen if there was going to be any chance of saving Montgomery County, the Republican Party, our state, and our country.

Christians understand that the struggle makes us stronger, and we must be much stronger for what lies ahead. We must be brave enough to address our elected officials’ destructive actions head-on. The more that truth gets revealed, the more we recognize the need for meaningful change, starting at the county level.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:2-4

Recent revelations

Let’s take a look at some things that have happened over the last several months and what has been revealed:

  • Mark Shorten, a.k.a. the Laughing Jackass, who is a convicted felon and longtime henchman for former Montgomery County Commissioner James Metts, is in jail right now for “continuously sexually assaulting a child under the age of 14.” Commissioner Metts was one of the main financial supporters of Chairman Bryan Christ when he ran for office. It is also fair to note that James Metts’ son, Jamie Metts, is one of Chairman Christ’s hand-picked officers for his minority faction of the local Republican Party County Executive Committee, and he has been instrumental in orchestrating the division in the local Party along with Chairman Christ.

  • Wesley Doolittle was another of Chairman Christ’s supporters on the Montgomery County Republican Party County Executive Committee (CEC). Doolittle willingly participated as Chairman Christ repeatedly broke the law, violated Party rules, and divided the Party. Doolittle recently resigned from the CEC to run for Sheriff and according to his Texas Ethics Commission Report, Doolittle’s largest donor is Jasen Rabalais, a Democrat out of Harris County (see also here).

  • After Chairman Christ closed down the local Republican Party headquarters and liquidated the Party’s assets, he then sent the Waller County Chair and Texas Republican County Chairs Association (TRCCA) President David Luther some equipment belonging to the local Party. It seems in return, Luther then gave Chairman Christ a leadership award from his TRCCA. It should be noted that the County Executive Committee did not authorize any transfer of equipment to Waller County and many on the County Executive Committee consider what Chairman Christ did as theft.

  • Speaking of fake awards, Chairman Christ recently resorted to sending out so-called “Valor awards” to elected officials who donate money to his new “Montgomery Republican Club,” a.k.a. the Fake Republican Party. The local Party never voted on any of these awards, and it is clear that Chairman Christ is doing this to curry favor with those elected officials in hopes that they will continue to support his lawless, divisive behavior and support the Fake Republican Party he and his wife created to replace the official Montgomery County Republican Party.

  • Chairman Christ has published emails to voters in which he calls members of the CEC liars, frauds, and embezzlers (see our News Releases for responses to these emails and accusations). He then has his supporters make the claim that Chairman Christ, through all of his egregious behavior, has acted with “grace.” There are some who will willfully overlook any wrong the Chairman does just because he was elected. Being an elected official does not justify a person’s actions or place him above the law, as some seem to believe Chairman Christ is. In fact, voters should be consistently evaluating the job performance of their elected officials to decide if they are working for the people’s best interests and deserve to be rehired for another term.

  • During the latest Texas Legislative Session, House Bill 1635 was presented, which attempted to destroy the Republican Party of Texas’s freedom of association. Not surprisingly, Chairman Christ sent a group to Austin to testify in favor of that bill. In the recorded hearing on the bill, one of Chairman Christ’s key supporters, Precinct 20 Chair Susan Johnson, gave false testimony before the Elections Committee (at 1 hour, 40 minutes) by claiming that HB 1635 was needed because members of the Montgomery County Republican Party CEC were trying to keep Doolittle off the ballot. There is no record of ANYONE on the CEC trying to keep Doolittle off the ballot, yet Johnson is on record as claiming that this happened.

  • House Bill 4636, which was submitted by Texas Representative Angelia Orr (R-HD 13), wife of Hill County Republican Party Chair and TRCCA Secretary Will Orr, sought to convert the local parties from a bottom-up Republican model into a dictatorial system. HB 4636 would have given ALL of the Party power to the County Chair and obviated the need to even have a County Executive Committee or any form of elected precinct representation in the counties. Chairman Christ and a handful of his followers, including Waller County Chair and TRCCA President David Luther, testified in favor of this bill before the Elections Committee and made outlandish, false claims such as “this bill is just to keep felons off of the ballot.”

Fortunately, both House Bill 1635 and House Bill 4636 were defeated by grassroots activists from across the state, led by a large contingency from Montgomery County. The Republican Party of Texas also worked diligently behind the scenes to kill those bills.

Standing in the gap

Just like Vladimir Lenin’s “useful idiots,” people like Chairman Christ and his mob are so focused on their own personal gain that they can’t see (or just don’t care) that their selfish, profit-driven actions could cost us our Party, county, state, and country. Thankfully, there is a large group of courageous patriots who are standing in the gap against Chairman Christ and the other bad actors seeking to destroy the Republican Party.

Voters must pay attention to what is happening here in Montgomery County and show up in force on Election Day.

Voters must pay attention to what is happening here in Montgomery County and show up in force on Election Day to stop Chairman Christ and his mob from completing their destruction of the local Party. We are in danger of losing our country if voters don’t wake up and take action!
