Rep. Toth pushes back against COVID-19 vaccines for Texas children
October 25, 2022 | Montgomery County, TX
State Representative Steve Toth sent a letter on Oct. 21, 2022, to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) opposing the Department’s statement on their website that children “need all CDC-recommended vaccines.” The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) added the Covid-19 vaccine to the “Child and Adolescent Immunization Schedule” on Oct. 20.
In the letter, Representative Toth states, “My colleagues and I in the Texas House will oppose this attempt to play doctor by unelected bureaucrats. We will introduce legislation to publicly reject this anti-scientific attempt to mandate Covid-19 vaccines on our school children…I ask for the Department of State Health Services to publicly rescind the statement from October 20 asking schools to comply with CDC recommendations.”
After pushback from conservative Texas lawmakers, the DSHS reversed course. The statement on their website has been removed.
Representative Toth is running for reelection in the Texas House of Representatives, District 15. The Montgomery County Republican Party of Texas fully endorses Representative Toth and all Texas Republican candidates taking a stand to protect Texas children from mandates.
