U.S. Rep. Morgan Luttrell: Remembering 9/11

September 11, 2024 | Magnolia, TX

Twenty-three years ago, America suffered the deadliest terrorist attack in our nation’s history. On September 11, 2001, nineteen terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners, turning them into weapons of war against our homeland, killing almost 3,000 people and injuring over 6,000. That day didn’t just change our country – it changed the world. For those of us who served, it was a defining moment.

Yet, even in our darkest hour, our nation’s strength and courage showed. We witnessed firefighters, police officers, and paramedics run into the burning buildings, risking everything to save others. We learned of the passengers’ courage on Flight 93 who fought back and sacrificed their lives to prevent further devastation. For those of us who have served, we remember how 9/11 called us to action – to defend our freedoms and protect our homeland from any future threats.

As we mark the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, we remember the innocent lives lost and the families forever changed. We also remember America’s unbreakable spirit and how we as a nation overcame one of the worst days in our history. For every veteran, first responder, and American, 9/11 is more than a day in history – it is a reminder of the sacrifice and resilience that define this great country.
