PROTECT THE VOTE!

A Core Commitment of the Montgomery County Republican Party

During election season, voters must be especially vigilant. Alongside legitimate campaigns and genuine grassroots advocacy, each election cycle brings an increase in deceptive political groups whose goal is not to inform voters, but to mislead them.

The Montgomery County Republican Party has consistently emphasized that election integrity matters not only in how votes are counted, but also in how voters are informed. Protecting the integrity of the vote and safeguarding the Republican brand are both vital responsibilities. For that reason, the local party takes seriously its duty to call out deceptive electioneering when it occurs.

The Ongoing Deceptions of the Republican Voters of Texas PAC

At the most recent meeting of the Montgomery County Republican Party Executive Committee, the party once again publicly condemned the Republican Voters of Texas PAC for repeatedly misleading voters in Montgomery County (Resolution Link). In addition, the party’s attorney is now taking action against this group for falsely claiming that its slate of precinct chair candidates has the endorsement of the local party.

The Republican Voters of Texas posting “Montgomery County Republican Party Precinct Chair Endorsements” which deceives voters into thinking the party has endorsed in the primary.

Despite prior condemnations, the RVT PAC continues to deliberately use misleading language, imagery, and implied endorsements to confuse unsuspecting voters into supporting its preferred slate of candidates. These tactics undermine voter trust and weaken the integrity of the electoral process, something the Montgomery County Republican Party remains committed to protecting.

What Does the State Party Say?

The legal counsel for the Republican Party of Texas issued the following statement on social media:

Rachel Hooper, Counsel for the Republican Party of Texas, commenting on the Republican Voters of Texas PAC’s Facebook page, which was promptly deleted.

Is President Trump Campaigning for Precinct Chairs?

This week, someone or some group using an address in El Paso and the name of a seemingly defunct PAC, has been sending text messages into Montgomery County invoking the name of President Trump to promote a slate of local Precinct Chair candidates.

Recent texts being sent out on behalf of precinct chair candidates, from a seemingly defunct PAC.

The idea that a sitting or even a former President of the United States would be personally involved in the selection of a county-level Precinct Chair should raise immediate red flags.  But because deception works, the party must stay on guard and keep the public informed.

Why the Deception?

That raises an important question: Why do the people forming and running these groups feel the need to pretend to be someone they are not every election cycle? Why do they have to rely on fake organizations or implied endorsements?

The answer is straightforward. Candidates who resort to these tactics know they cannot win on their own merits. Impersonation and misrepresentation are tactics used only when transparency, qualifications, and integrity are lacking. Engaging in such unethical behavior speaks volumes about character and should concern every voter.

Voters Beware

During election season, voters should approach any unsolicited text, email, or mailer with healthy skepticism especially those claiming to represent “the Republican Party” or asserting endorsements from high-profile figures.

Take a moment to verify the source. Look for official party communications, confirm addresses and sponsors, and question messaging that seems designed to confuse rather than inform. And when in doubt, voters are encouraged to contact the Montgomery County Republican Party directly for accurate information.

An informed electorate is the strongest defense against deception and the surest way to protect both election integrity and the trust voters place in the Republican Party.
