A Time for Healing and Party Unity

A Message from Vice Chair Jon Bouché

April 2, 2024 | Montgomery County, TX

Since the election results came in on the night of March 5th showing an overwhelming grassroots landslide over the establishment candidates in Montgomery County, a narrative has been spread by Chairman Bryan Christ and a few of his followers that some sort of revenge will be exacted upon those who have been undermining the Republican Party for these last few years.

Sadly, rather than doing everything they can to bring the party together, Chairman Christ and his followers have held meetings with Republicans throughout the county, including elected officials, “warning” them about various invented “plots” and spreading false rumors. This is divisive. Chairman Christ’s attention should be on helping the new Chairman, not creating more chaos.

First of all, everyone must understand that the grassroots Conservatives have only had one goal since all of this started - for everyone who calls themselves a Republican to act like a Republican. That is the definition of party unity. ALL Republicans should follow the party rules and the laws of our state. That’s it. Full stop!

To that end, Conservatives have stood up to the corruption and lawlessness of the minority in the party who have hijacked the party brand and turned Republicans against Republicans for so long. The Conservatives have prevailed. They are not interested in seeking revenge nor have they ever desired it. They want authentic unity. This will not be achieved by turning a blind eye to malfeasance. Those who have broken Texas Election Code, party rules, and party bylaws must understand that this must stop immediately.

In the interest of coming together and having a stronger Republican Party, a few things must now happen.

  1. Chairman Christ, who has led the efforts to deceive Republicans in this county, must resign immediately from the “lame duck” remainder of his tenure as County Chair. He has done nothing but bring division and destruction to the party and the voters have overwhelmingly rejected him as a result. He already has been censured by the party and after a vote of no confidence, was asked to resign in January 2023. It is clear that it would be best for the party if he would bow out now instead of continuing his divisive behavior for the remainder of his term.

  2. The political action committee (PAC) Chairman Christ and his wife formed and weaponized against the Republican Party, which they deceptively named, “The Republican Voters of Texas PAC,” must dissolve immediately. They have been presenting this PAC to voters as the actual Republican Party since 2018 and have purposely deceived voters and elected officials. The PAC was founded for the sole purpose of targeting Conservative Republicans. If we are to have any sort of party unity, that PAC must be dissolved as well as any other groups deceptively using the word “Republican” in their name for the purpose of endorsing in elections.

  3. The website being used by Chairman Christ and his splinter group (mcrptx.org), which they have been fraudulently presenting to the public as the official Montgomery County Republican Party website, must be shut down immediately and that URL directed to the actual party website mctxgop.org.

  4. Chairman Christ and his wife must close down their clubhouse located at 921 Austin Street since they registered it as the actual Republican Party headquarters with Google and they continue to misrepresent it as the Montgomery County Republican Party headquarters on their website. Because they have done this, it must be shut down to avoid any further confusion.

  5. Chairman Christ must pay off all debts that he has accumulated in his role as county chair. When Gwen Withrow takes office in June, she should not be saddled with debt due to his mismanagement and malfeasance. Specifically, Chairman Christ has defaulted on a printer lease that has been turned over to a collection agency by the leasing company. Because Chairman Christ removed the printer from headquarters, deprived the party of its use, and then defaulted on the lease, he needs to pay that debt and ensure that Gwen has a clean slate to start from when she takes office.

Chairman Christ and his followers have a real opportunity to help bring the party together during this time of transition. Thus far, he and his people have rejected every opportunity to work together for the good of the party. This is a clear indication that their calls for unity are empty and should be considered in the same vein as the calls for a cease fire from the terrorist organization Hamas. Those calls for unity are clearly just a way for the bad actors to regroup, rearm, and then position themselves for yet another assault. The only way for them to show this is not the case is to comply with the above terms and work cooperatively with the actual Republican Party.

Until ALL of the above terms are met, we will continue to expose the bad actors to the voting public because I believe that an educated electorate will help ensure that none of these divisive people are ever elected to office in Montgomery County ever again, and I am going to do my level best to make sure of it.

Sincerely,

Jon P. Bouché
Vice Chairman
Montgomery County Republican Party
