Precinct Chairs at June 22 Organizational meeting

June 22 Organizational Meeting at A.V. ‘Bull’ Sallas Park in New Caney.

Swearing-in & Organizational Meeting

Precinct Chairs were sworn in by Senator Brandon Creighton at the June 18 Armor of God Prayer event, and held their first meeting of the 2024-2026 biennium, the Organizational Meeting, on June 22 in New Caney.

Precinct Chairs who were unable to attend the June 18 event were sworn in at the Organizational Meeting by State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) member for Senate District 4, Dale Inman, who also serves as Precinct 27 Chair.

The Organizational Meeting was the first County Executive Committee (CEC) meeting presided over by new County Chair Gwen Withrow. She was supported by Secretary DJ Fike and Parliamentarian Peter Allison. Attorney Art Aguilar served as counsel for the meeting and SREC member for Senate District 18, Cheryl Thompson-Draper, was on hand to provide support as a former County Chair.

Not only was the meeting conducted in an efficient and timely manner, with all business on the agenda completed (official adjournment was at 2:46pm), Chairman Withrow set a positive and encouraging tone for working together as a team to elect Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and Republicans all the way down the ballot this November.

Bylaws & Leadership Elections

Bylaws for the new biennium were adopted, and Party Officers and Steering Committee Members were elected.

The following committee chairs also were elected:

  • Vacancy Committee - Allison Winter (Precinct 59 Chair)

  • Victory Committee - John Wertz (Precinct 69 Chair)

  • Communication Committee - Stephanie Cox (Precinct 98 Chair)

  • Technology Committee - Peter Stees (Precinct 46 Chair)

  • Headquarters Committee - Betty Anderson (Precinct 31 Chair)

Additional committee chairs will be elected at the July Steering Committee meeting, tentatively scheduled for July 11. Chairman Withrow also announced that the next CEC meeting is tentatively scheduled for July 23. Watch the calendar for updates and contact secretary@mctxgop.org if you have questions.

The next Montgomery County Republican Party Steering Committee meeting is tentatively scheduled for July 11 and the next CEC meeting is tentatively scheduled for July 23. Watch the calendar for updates.

“I’m happy that so many stepped up to run for positions in the party,” said Chairman Withrow. “When I first became involved with the Republican Party, I started joining or attending committees and social events. Before I knew it, I was heading up committees and even started a Republican Women’s Club. I encourage everyone to become more involved, not less involved. Please don’t isolate yourself - we want to get to know you!”

New Headquarters

Perhaps the most anticipated event of the day was the last item on the agenda - the selection of a new party headquarters! A headquarters search report was presented that analyzed cost, location, and functionality. A vote was taken to choose from three local properties. Watch for a big reveal of the new location once the lease is signed!

Not only will the new headquarters provide a home base for the County Chairman, Secretary, and Steering Committee, it will be a center of community outreach with signs and other campaign materials available for distribution to the public. Thank you to everyone who served on the headquarters search committee and to Precinct 63 Chair Herschel Williams for leading the committee and presenting the report.

Thank You, Congressman Luttrell

The Montgomery County Republican Party would also like to thank U.S. Congressman Morgan Luttrell and his team for providing Chick-fil-A lunch for all Precinct Chairs and attendees so they could complete their work in a timely manner!
