Action Alert! Ask Magnolia ISD to stop using taxpayer money to fund the United Nations IB Program

by Ginger Russell, Education Committee Chair, Montgomery County Republican Party
The mission of the Montgomery County Republican Party (MCRP) Education Committee, in cooperation with the principles set forth in the Texas GOP Party Platform, is to hold our legislators and public education establishments accountable to the platform and American values.
One district program in direct conflict with this mission is the United Nations’ International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Magnolia ISD is the only Montgomery County school district currently offering the IB program to students.
IB is a non-governmental organization of the United Nations Education Scientific Cultural Organization (UNESCO). IB promotes internationally minded global citizens and the redistribution of wealth. The IB Program’s June 1 Facebook and Instagram Post, which reads:
“During Pride Month, and every month, the IB celebrates the diversity and inclusivity of our community. We believe that every individual deserves respect and equal opportunities, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation.
“We stand with our LGBTQ+ students, alumni and educators and recognize the important contributions they make to our society. Let’s continue to create a safe and welcoming environment for all.

IB Program in Opposition to American Values
The International Baccalaureate philosophy is shaped around liberal humanist thought in order to create secular, “internationally minded,” global citizens, creating a mindset that diminishes America and instills global sovereignty in the minds of students.
In keeping with Texas Republican Party Platform Plank 114 on curriculum, the Montgomery County Republican Party Executive Committee and the Texas State Republican Executive Committee have passed resolutions against the United Nations’ International Baccalaureate Program.
At the 2022 Republican Party of Texas State Convention, more than 5,000 delegates voted to address the International Baccalaureate Program in planks 114 and 274:
114: National Core Curriculum: We oppose the use of national or international standards in the State of Texas (i.e., International Baccalaureate, Common Core, TEKS Resource System (formerly Cscope), United Nations Inclusion, National Sexuality Education Standards and SEICUS, etc.)…
274: United Nations: The United Nations is a detriment to the sovereignty of the United States and other countries; because of this we support:
l. Withdrawal from the UN International Baccalaureate Organization.
International Baccalaureate is diametrically opposed to the values of America’s founding principles and values. Despite the fact that Magnolia ISD School Board Trustees are all voting Republicans, they have refused to remove the UN International Baccalaureate Program. We the taxpayers are ultimately funding our own demise by indoctrinating students with a liberal UN program like IB.
TAKE ACTION
Please contact your local Magnolia ISD school board members and ask them to stop using our tax money to fund the United Nations International Baccalaureate Program.
