PROBLEM: Sexual and violent abuse of students is going unpunished.

  • 52,782 total complaints against TX educators were recorded between Sept. 2021 and July 2024.

  • 6,888 were reports of sexual and violent misconduct by public school employees perpetrated on students in Texas schools.

  • As of July 2024, only 3.4% of those allegations were resolved! Where is justice for these children?

HB 4623 (by Rep. Mitch Little) will permit civil claims to be brought against Texas public schools or professional school employees when there is justification. Specifically, when a public school is negligent in hiring, supervising, or employing a professional school employee, it is liable for an act or omission that the employee commits against a student, such as sexual misconduct, failure to report suspected child abuse, or neglect.

HB 4623 allows victims to pursue justice for abuse committed by a Texas public school or its employees.

The Texas Senate will either hold school districts accountable or let the crisis continue. To allow this bill to die is unacceptable!

It’s time to stop putting Democrat and fluff bills ahead of children! HB 4623 should have gone to the Senate floor this weekend.

The Texas Senate Education Committee Must Act to Stop Sexual Abuse in Public Schools! This critical bill creates civil liability for school districts that knowingly hire or protect abusive educators.

With over three school employee arrests per week in 2025, this is a statewide crisis. Texas students deserve protection — not cover-ups.
