Special interest Big Oil lobbyists and environmentalist groups are pushing our legislators to keep our bills high! Push back!
Let’s tell the legislature we want relief by supporting SB 715 / HB 3356. Ensuring Electric Grid Reliability for All Texans is a Republican Party of Texas Legislative Priority.
According to Texas Railroad Commissioner Wayne Christian (elected Republican), “Texans are paying 28% more for electricity than they did just four years ago - and the grid is less reliable than ever. Why? Because unreliable wind and solar generators have been allowed to flood the market without accountability, leaving consumers to cover the hidden costs when the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow.
“Shockingly, some large oil and gas corporations have teamed up with the Sierra Club and ESG activists to block a common-sense reform that simply asks every generator to do their fair share.”
Bottom Line: Texans cannot afford unreliable electricity generation. These two companion bills (SB 715 & HB 3356) help level the playing field and ensure reliability.
WHY TEXANS NEED THIS:
Prevents future blackouts by ensuring electric grid operators can count on all energy sources.
Protects consumers by removing an oversight loophole exempting some generators.
Guarantees equal treatment across energy producers - no special exemptions.
WHAT THIS LEGISLATION DOES:
Ensures all power generators are held to the same reliability standard
Amends existing law so that any generator in the ERCOT region operating for at least one year must comply with reliability standards.
WHY THIS LEGISLATION MATTERS:
Texas needs a stable, resilient power grid - this bill is the foundation.
Current law only applies reliability rules to new generators after 2027!
This bill accelerates implementation and removes a carve-out for earlier entrants, many of whom are unreliable and intermittent sources.
Creates a reliability standard across all generation types and improves grid stability for Texas consumers and businesses.
Supports long-term planning and investment in dispatchable, reliable power.
2 Quick Actions Needed
Part 1: Support SB 715 by Sparks, Kolkhorst, Middleton | Floor vote needed
Key talking points: Texans deserve reliable, affordable electricity - not higher bills caused by ESG-driven corporations freeloading off the grid. SB 715 fixes this by finally holding unreliable wind and solar accountable for the costs they impose. Don’t let WOKE industrial users and special interests gut the bill to preserve their subsidies. Support SB 715 with no carveouts, no exemptions. Stand with Texas families - not corporate grifters. We only have 28 more days in this legislative session. Time is running out! Move this bill to the floor for a vote!

Once your email is sent, a list of phone numbers will pop up. Please take a few minutes to call the Lt. Governor, his Chief and your senator. Ringing phones get their attention – so keep them busy! If the staffers complain, don’t feel guilty! You have every right to tell elected officials what you do and do not support. It’s a Founding Principle called “Consent of the Governed.”
