Supporting the Censure of House Speaker Dade Phelan by the Orange County Executive Committee
Supporting the Censure of House Speaker Dade Phelan, HD 21, by the Orange County Executive Committee and urging the Texas Republican Party to honor said Censure and also Censure Dade Phelan
WHEREAS, House Speaker Dade Phelan is not an elected Representative of the Republican Voters of Montgomery County, Texas; and
WHEREAS, House Speaker Dade Phelan, does not answer to the voters of Montgomery County, Texas; and
WHEREAS, a Censure by the Montgomery County Republican Party would serve no real purpose nor have a direct impact on Mr. Phelan’s support or candidacy for re-election; and
WHEREAS, by nature of the office of House Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, the legislative actions and decisions of Dade Phelan, while serving as Speaker do impact the outcomes of the legislative session and have a direct impact on the lives of all citizens of the State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, Republican delegates to the State Republican Party of Texas 2022 Convention passed a slate of Republican Priorities that are then conveyed to all elected Republican Representatives for the purpose of establishing a legislative priority list of House Bills that the State Party delegates as elected representatives of their constituents expect Republican elected representatives to bring forth and pass; and
WHEREAS, House Speaker and Representative of House District 21 Dade Phelan, failed in his duty as an elected Republican Representative to bring many of these Priority Bills to the floor for a vote; and
WHEREAS, House Speaker Dade Phelan appointed Democrat Committee Chairmen, against the stated directive from the State Party, also caused Priority Bills to fail to come to a vote on the House floor.
THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that we, the Montgomery County Republican Party of Texas Executive Committee, stand in solidarity with the Orange County Executive Committee and join with them and all other Texas County Executive Committees in their Censure of Dade Phelan.
LET IT ALSO BE RESOLVED that the Montgomery County Executive Committee calls upon the State Republican Party and State Republican Executive Committee to honor the Orange County Executive Committee’s call to Censure House Speaker Dade Phelan for his failure to represent and execute his duties as an elected Representative of District 21 and while serving as Speaker of the House.
