Resolution to Honor Senators Bettencourt, Creighton, and Kolkhorst for their support of AG Paxton Throughout the Impeachment Process
WHEREAS, the Senators did respond positively to their constituents’ calls to acquit AG Paxton; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with their oaths to support and defend both the Constitution of the United States and the Texas Constitution the Senators did follow the Rule of Law in protecting the defendant's rights guaranteed in both the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments; and
WHEREAS, they voted to acquit AG Ken Paxton on sixteen Articles of Impeachment on September 16, 2023; and
WHEREAS, they voted to dismiss the remaining four Articles of Impeachment, thereby ending the impeachment trial of Ken Paxton and reinstating him to the Office of Attorney General;
THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Montgomery County Republican Party of Texas expresses appreciation and gratitude to Senator Bettencourt, Senator Creighton, and Senator Kolkhorst for their respect for the voters of Montgomery County who overwhelmingly elected Ken Paxton to the office of Attorney General regardless of any allegations made against him at the time.
LET IT FURTHER BE RESOLVED that the Montgomery County Republican Party of Texas does present each Senator with a Certificate of Appreciation for representing their constituents and upholding their oaths.
ALSO LET IT BE RESOLVED that this Resolution be published and a copy sent to Lt. Governor Dan Patrick and the Republican Party of Texas in recognition of our appreciation and gratitude.
