Resolution Endorsing Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs for The Woodlands Township, Position #5
WHEREAS, Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs has demonstrated that she is a solidly conservative member of The Woodlands Township Board since 2019 and is seeking Re-Election to The Woodlands Township, position 5; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs is a life-long Republican who often is a solo vote standing with the residents of The Township; and
WHEREAS, her opponent made six donations in 2018 for Democrat candidate Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke and additionally donated in 2022 to the Democratic opponent of Representative Steve Toth; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs’ opponent worked from 2007-2011 for The National Equity Fund, Inc. in Chicago, a non-profit dedicated to building low-income housing in suburbs across America; and
WHEREAS, Montgomery County Republican Party’s bylaws Article XI, Section 2 allows for the County Executive Committee to endorse an identifiable and uncensured Republican in non-partisan race when the other candidate(s) is identified as non-Republican; and
WHEREAS, as a party we strive to keep Montgomery County RED and to continue to elect conservative candidates to our local and county positions including The Woodlands Township Board; and
WHEREAS, it is well documented that the Texas Democratic Party’s Project LIFT specifically proclaims a “special focus on winning local, non-partisan races;” now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Montgomery County Republican Party of Texas endorses the Re-Election of Dr. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs for The Woodlands Township Position #5 in the November 7, 2023, General Election.
