Petition for Writ of Mandamus Filed Against Party Chairman
February 17, 2023 | Montgomery County, TX
The majority of the Montgomery County Republican Party Executive Committee has filed a Petition for Writ of Mandamus lawsuit against Chairman Bryan Christ with the Texas Supreme Court. This lawsuit is the result of Chairman Christ's multiple violations of the Texas Election Code, which have resulted in dividing the party.
In the Petition for Writ of Mandamus, the County Executive Committee is asking the court to compel Chairman Christ to fulfill his statutory duties and report the correct precinct chairs to the Secretary of State instead of those he has recruited and installed in violation of party rules and state law.
Prior to this action, mediation was conducted within the Montgomery County Republican Party by Republican Party of Texas Chairman, Matt Rinaldi, and Officials Committee Member, Matt Patrick.
Patrick wrote an official summary of the mediation process and results on Nov. 18, 2022, for the Officials Committee. The summary was originally confidential, but has since been released and is included in a declaration from Patrick in the Petition for Writ of Mandamus.
Chairman Christ also has defamed officers within the party by falsely accusing them of Fraud, Conspiracy to Commit Fraud, and Embezzlement. Chairman Christ has been notified that he must print a retraction for those false accusations or he may be sued for defamation.
