Who’s Cancelling Who?

Kyle Rittenhouse was scheduled to speak at a “Rally Against Censorship” at Southern Star Brewing Company in Conroe on Jan. 26; however, on Jan. 13, Southern Star canceled the event and posted a statement on their Facebook page.

Many were surprised at the abrupt cancellation and the position that Southern Star took in saying that the event doesn’t reflect their values.

Some have argued that Southern Star cancelling the event while claiming to be “apolitical” appears to be a contradiction since they have hosted political events in the past, including a “Pride Party” last June. Radio personality, Michael Berry, weighed in on Twitter:

Jon Bouché, Vice Chairman of the Montgomery County Republican Party, stated: “As conservatives, it is imperative that we be consistent. We didn’t like the bakers in Colorado being forced to bake a cake for an event that violated their religious beliefs, so we should not expect Southern Star to be forced to host an event for anyone if they choose not to do so.

"However, that sword cuts both ways. If you are telling people that those attending a ‘Rally Against Censorship’ are not in line with your views, then you are probably going to lose a lot of customers here in the 'Reddest County' in the nation.”
