Fellow Citizens of Montgomery County,
As the election returns were coming in on November 5th, I saw a rainbow of support received by President Trump and I could not help but think of the term E Pluribus Unum.
This Latin phrase, meaning “Out of Many, One,” appears on the Great Seal of the United States, which impressed upon official documents such as treaties and proclamations, and is featured on the Presidential Seal and the one-dollar bill.
E Pluribus Unum has served as a guiding principle for America since its earliest days. It represents a vision for a society where unity thrives amid diversity. For America to be truly great, we must celebrate our differences while holding fast to the American values and principles that bind all of us together.
To me, America is the very embodiment of E Pluribus Unum because we are made up of people from all corners of the globe. Our strength and character comes from that rich tapestry of cultures, beliefs, and experiences. It is who we are as a nation.
As Christian Conservatives, we should embrace that the diversity of America is not a weakness, but rather it is a source of resilience as it enriches our society, pushes us to innovate, and helps us to understand the world in more nuanced ways. Sadly, for decades, Democrats have used our diversity as a basis for grievances and division. I was overjoyed to see a repudiation of that behavior on November 5th.
I am greatly encouraged by these election results for President Trump because it shows me that the efforts to divide America and set us against each other through the politics of envy are finally fading away.
Let us always remember what E Pluribus Unum truly means—that our commonalities and shared humanity transcend the things that might separate us. Our American principles of freedom of religion, equal opportunity, individual rights, and limited government are shared by all American citizens no matter where they came from.
I pray that God would continue to bless us and that our country will take full advantage of God’s grace in giving us another chance to turn to Him and save America.
