U.S. Supreme Court Approves Texas Redistricting Map

December 5, 2025 | Washington, D.C.

Thursday evening, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the ruling by the El Paso District Court on the Congressional redistricting map that the State of Texas put forth.

From the order: “This Court has repeatedly emphasized that lower federal courts should ordinarily not alter the election rules on the eve of an election.” Republican National Committee v. Democratic National Committee, 589 U. S. 423, 424 (2020) (per curiam). The District Court violated that rule here. The District Court improperly inserted itself into an active primary campaign, causing much confusion and upsetting the delicate federal-state balance in elections.”

Texans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing the election maps are secure for now, and the March Primary will go on as expected.
