Montgomery County Republican Party not endorsing specific candidates in The Woodlands Township races
October 29, 2022 | The Woodlands, TX
Residents of The Woodlands will have the opportunity to elect new representation for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors on the Nov. 8 ballot. Montgomery County Republican Party volunteers have reported being told that the Party has endorsed certain Republican candidates over others for the Township board.
In fact, the Party does not endorse one Republican candidate over another. The Party researches candidates in non-partisan races when the candidate’s party affiliation will not be listed on the ballot. All of the candidates in The Woodlands Township General Election have been identified as Republicans by the Montgomery County Republican Party of Texas.
The Republican Party Voter Guide for Montgomery County Races lists bios for all candidates running for the Township. Most candidates provide contact information on their websites, and are happy to answer questions about where they stand on the issues.
Voters should review their sample ballot to determine if they will be voting in The Woodlands Township General Election.
Research candidates by attending meet and greets and candidate forums, reading candidate websites, and answering the following questions:
What are this candidate’s stated priorities for the future of The Woodlands?
If the candidate is running for reelection, what is the candidate’s voting record on issues that are important to you?
If the candidate will be new to the board, what experience does the candidate have and how will this contribute to improving the policies approved by the board?
Voters who do their own research are more likely to recognize false narratives that tend to run rampant during election season. At the Republican Party of Texas State Convention held in July, Joseph Vargas, political strategist and vice president of the Juan Seguin Society, shared that those who are unable to back up a claim with facts often “choose the old tactic of attacking the character and credibility of any opponent - also known as negative branding.”
