Speaker Dade Phelan and his team are joining with Democrats in an attempt to bring down the most effective Attorney General in the nation with a likely vote for impeachment in the Texas House this afternoon.

According to Texas Scorecard, “Just days after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton demanded Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan resign from office for being drunk on the job, Phelan’s lieutenants have announced plans to illegally impeach him.”

Yesterday, the Texas House Committee on General Investigating unanimously voted to refer articles of impeachment against Attorney General Paxton. The committee, appointed by Speaker Phelan, heard testimony from four investigators secretly appointed in March, primarily regarding charges that are eight years old.

Texas House Committee on General Investigating:

Chair: Rep. Andrew S. Murr, Republican
Vice Chair: Rep. Ann Johnson, Democrat
Members:
Rep. Charlie Geren, Republican
Rep. Oscar Longoria, Democrat
Rep. David Spiller, Republican

This is par for the course for Speaker Phelan who has effectively ignored the Republican Party of Texas' Legislative Priorities during this session.

Paxton maintains his innocence. "The RINOs in the Texas Legislature are now on the same side as Joe Biden, Alejandro Mayorkas, and Chuck Schumer, collaborating to tie our hands and render Texas less powerful and effective in the fight for the nation’s future. They want nothing more than to sabotage our legal challenges to Biden’s extremist agenda by taking me out as the state’s Attorney General," he said.

The charges are nothing new. The voters were made aware of the charges and rejected them.
