An update from Texans for Strong Borders

Time is almost up in the 2025 Texas legislative session, meaning we only have a few short weeks to ensure the Texas Border is secured and our state puts Americans FIRST.

If you've seen our coverage from Austin over the past several months, then you know that Texans for Strong Borders has fought hard, asking state lawmakers to take the necessary steps to facilitate Trump's deportation and border security measures.

Here's the current status of our priority legislation:

  • 287(g): Directing local law enforcement to enter into an agreement with ICE to enforce federal immigration laws.

    • HB 5580 & SB 8: SB 8 has passed the Texas Senate and both bills have passed out of committee in the House for consideration on the Texas House floor.

  • Universal E-VerifyEnsures legal hiring practices for new employees and deters illegal immigration.

    • SB 324: Passed Second Reading in the Texas Senate TODAY and will be sent over to the House very soon.

  • Ending In-State Tuition for IllegalsSeeks to repeal in-state tuition and other state financial aid for illegal aliens, who currently qualify for these programs if they meet certain requirements.

    • SB 1798: Pending in committee, and we are pushing the committee for a vote soon.
