From Dr. Milinda Morris, Chairman, Texas GOP Secure The Electric Grid Subcommittee

You can use Texas Legislature Online (TLO) to look up current status of any of these bills or to read the bill text. Check out our how-to article if you’ve never used TLO.

2 MORE DAYS of Session.

Click here for our most up-to-date bill status. I think we have 12 Bills headed to the Governor’s desk and two have already been signed by Governor Abbott that will take effect on September 1. Those two Bills are HB 3809 by Darby and HB 3229 by Lambert. Governor Abbott has until June 22 to sign the bills. At this time, it doesn't seem likely that we will have a “Secure the Grid” Special Session.

Awesome job everyone! But the job of the Secure the Grid Dream Team doesn’t end when the Legislative Session closes on Monday, June 2, 2025. We will continue to stay abreast of grid issues, especially the cybersecurity and safety issues surrounding solar panels and BESS facilities. We’ll be monitoring the impact of Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill on the future of Green Energy.

Don Brown will continue to follow ERCOT and PUC activities and policies.

Bill Peacock will continue his wonderful analysis through excellentthought.net

Nancy White will stay involved at the county levels and stay active on her social media outlets.( Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube) and her website: Make Texas Safe Again!

Greg , Christiana, and I will remain active at the SREC level and county levels to keep our Power Grid Warriors and Texans informed.

We decided as a Committee to continue to our ZOOM Meetings every two weeks to share information and updates. You’re welcome to join us!

Our next meeting is June 10, 2025 at 10 am and the link is below for those meetings.

Insurance Issues

Several comments have been made, including from David Tice, that homeowner’s insurance may exclude coverage from EMP/solar flares, and from homes located adjacent to battery storage facilities. That adds another layer of risk to homeowners and potential loss of their homes if their homes become uninsurable.
