Conroe ISD Schedules Bond Election Presentations and Town Halls

In an effort to garner support in the community for the upcoming bond election on November 7th, Conroe Independent School District has scheduled several public presentations as well as town halls. Conroe ISD seems to be making every effort to direct the narrative about the nearly $2 billion proposed school bond, which has four propositions.
Prop A: $1.82 Billion, the largest proposition which includes 8 new schools, 3 additions, 5 major renovations, and 2 master plans plus other infrastructure; their “must pass” proposition
Prop B: $40 Million on technology devices alone
Prop C: $113 Million for 16 PE Elementary gyms being added to existing schools plus an Ag Barn
Prop D: $22.9 Million for an outdoor pool at the current Natatorium, plus refurbishments on the indoor pool

Tax Implications
At present, the district currently owes $1.6 Billion in bonds which amounts to $0.26 per $100 value on residences. The district is stating that the additional bond, if fully passed, would only amount to a $0.02 tax increase. The bond election also seems poorly timed given the upcoming election also has on the ballot an amendment to be voted for property tax relief (SB 2). If this does not pass, then where does this leave Conroe ISD residents with their taxes?
