Full Armor of God prayer event encourages the community to pray for our elected officials

May 13, 2023 | Montgomery County, TX

The Montgomery County Republican Party hosted its first annual “Armor of God, Montgomery County Prays” prayer event on Saturday, May 13, at Grace Church Woodlands. The event was a wonderful time of worship, prayer, and encouraging messages for our Montgomery County elected officials, bringing the community together to cover each elected official in prayer, regardless of party affiliation.

Reverend Jason Nelson explained how we are to utilize each piece of the armor of God (Ephesians 6:11-18) in our daily lives. The keynote speaker, Judge Vincent Santini of the 457th District Court, urged those in office to live and stand by faith when administering their duties. Other speakers included Pastor and State Republican Executive Committeeman Dale Inman (SD 4), and Spokesman for Senator Ted Cruz, William Little.

Republican Party Chairman Matt Rinaldi, Sheriff Rand Henderson, and State Representative Steve Toth lent their voices via video, urging those in attendance to keep up the fight for good while remaining in prayer for revival in our state and country. Finally, Reverend Nelson provided a rousing prayer over all the elected officials in Montgomery County.

Texas Senator Brandon Creighton was originally scheduled as the keynote speaker, but on the evening before the prayer event was asked by Lt. Governor Dan Patrick to stay in Austin as one of only three Texas Senators selected to help him negotiate the gap between the Senate and House budgets. Montgomery County is proud to have Senator Creighton in Austin working on our behalf.

Senator Creighton sent a representative to answer questions about the Legislative Session and provided a written statement for the event, which was read by SREC Committeeman Dale Inman. “I miss everyone who’s there at Grace Church this morning and I’m extremely grateful to be invited to speak at the Armor of God prayer event,” said Senator Creighton. His statement provided an update on efforts he’s been leading in the Texas Senate as the new Education Committee Chairman and Higher Education Subcommittee Chairman to get rid of DEI, CRT, tenure, and bloated university budgets. He said that his focus is on conservative principles, free enterprise, and capitalism in Texas.

The Party would like to thank Senator Brandon Creighton, Rep. Steve Toth, and Sheriff Rand Henderson for providing breakfast; Grace Church Woodlands for allowing us to use their beautiful facility for the event; and Judge Santini for stepping in at the last minute to provide an inspiring message for our elected officials!
