Required manual count being conducted in three Montgomery County precincts
November 21, 2022 | Conroe, TX
Texas Election Code requires a partial manual count in counties that use electronic voting systems to verify accuracy of tabulation. The partial manual count began in Montgomery County at 9 am on Nov. 14.
The Secretary of State selects the precincts and designates the race that will be counted. For this election, the Lt. Governor's race was selected and hand counts are being performed in Precinct 96 (South Conroe), Precinct 99 (Woodforest/Fish Creek), and Precinct 102 (Northwest Conroe).
Montgomery County Republican Party observers on hand
Many candidates in the election or their designated representatives, primarily consisting of Montgomery County Republican Party County Executive Committee (CEC) members, have been on hand observing the process. All early voting and Election Day ballots are included in the count, including provisional and absentee ballots.
The first three days of the hand count were spent sorting ballots. Tallying began on the fourth day and is currently recessed until after Thanksgiving. The final manual tally will be compared to the machine tally, and a report will be posted on the Montgomery County Elections and Texas Secretary of State websites.
