Call To Action! Green New Deal Policies in Texas
May 4, 2023 | Austin, TX
What do you think about having a state mileage tax? How would you feel about your state government intentionally slowing traffic to restrict the free flow of auto lanes. What about Green New Deal policies for Texas? How do you feel about that or other radical climate policies?
Want to know why it was important for our Republican majority legislature to ban Democrats from chairing committees? This Texas Scorecard article should give you a good understanding of what is going on in Austin, right under our noses. If they succeed in their mastery of political manipulation, we will all pay the price.
Democratic Representative Terry Canales of District 40 is Chairman of the House Transportation Committee which is considering a bill to study ways to impose a state mileage tax on Texans.
HB 3418 by Representative Canales is only one of the Green New Deal type of climate policies that are moving through the session with little objection from Republicans, while we fight tooth and nail to get any of our GOP priorities passed.
Does it matter whether they are passed in one swath or broken into smaller chunks so as to pass them without our notice?
One of the eight priorities voted for overwhelmingly by Republican delegates at the state convention was to ban Democratic Chairmanships. Yet, one of the first actions in this session by House Speaker Dade Phelan was to refuse to allow the rule on the floor for a vote.
Elections have consequences, as someone famously said, and the election of Phelan to the role of Speaker is bearing fruit for the uniparty that actually runs our elected state government. The impact of a state that is reputedly majority Republican, but actually led by a coalition of RINOs and Democrats, is apparent in the 88th Texas legislative session.
Let your legislators know your concerns, in no uncertain terms. Texas is the heart of the global oil and gas industry. What do you think would happen to our state and our nation if that changed?
