We join Texas Family Project (TFP) in thanking Senator Bryan Hughes and Senator Donna Campbell for sponsoring SB 12 and SB 14 respectively. When our voters spoke up regarding a problematic amendment to SB 14 that would have left an opening to allow children to receive gender transition drugs, Senator Campbell listened.

Now that they have heard us complain, let’s also take the time to say ‘thank you’.

Statement on Passage of SB 12

We strongly commend Senator Bryan Hughes and the Texas Senate for listening to the voices of concerned citizens and for passing Senate Bill 12. No Texas child should be exposed to the sexually explicit content found at drag shows.

We would also like to thank Lt. Governor Dan Patrick for making this common-sense, pro-family legislation a priority this session and encourage the Texas House to act quickly on protecting Texas kids and passing SB 12.

Statement on Passage of SB 14

TFP Director Austin Griesinger issued the following statement:

“We want to thank Senator Donna Campbell and all of the Republican Senators who listened to the voices of the grassroots Texans and removed the controversial amendment to SB 14 that would have continued to allow children to receive abusive gender transition drugs. This action puts SB 14 on a better path to becoming law and protecting Texas children from abuse. We are grateful that the process was respected and Senator Campbell and Republicans in the Texas Senate prioritized protecting Texas kids over listening to special interest groups who want to play politics. Today was a win for Texas kids.”

Update: As of April 21, both of these bills have passed the Senate. SB 12 is currently in the House Committee on State Affairs. SB 14 is in the House Committee on Public Health and was reported favorably as substituted on April 14 with no further action yet. We urge you to contact Representatives on these committees and ask them to move these bills to the full House for a vote.
